Dolly Levi is a strong-willed matchmaker who travels to Yonkers, New York in order to see the miserly "well-known unmarried half-a-millionaire" Horace Vandergelder. In doing so, she convinces his niece, his niece's intended, and Horace's two clerks to travel to New York City.

I don't know how anyone could not enjoy this movie. Streisand is delightful as Dolly Levi. All the other characters were so well done and the movie and all of Dolly's manipulations are fun to see unfold. And the music is so great. The songs really stick with you and you'll find yourself singing along. In fact, you maybe even recognize parts of this musical from the Disney movie Wall-E. This is the musical that Wall-E watched over and over again, that he danced along to, and that inspired him to want to hold hands.
Such a wonderful movie. The last of the big musicals of that era. It ages like fine wine it gets better with age and I find myself watching it now in 2025 after having watched it with my mum as a child and remembering the joy and the happiness that this film evoked. The score is amazing the dancing the costumes the singing...Barbra Streisant....its a feast for the eyes and the soul. So wonderful they incorporated scenes of this movie into Wall-e. A movie for all times.
