Things Kenny Powers learned during his stint as a children’s Taekwondo instructor under the moniker “Mr. Simmons”: - Always surround yourself with inferior talent (in this case children) so you can show them up - Never marry a stripper - Always be charitable by taking others under your wing. Train them to be exactly like you. - Myrtle Beach is the tits This is a decent film. I’m a big fan of Danny McBride & Jody Hill so the flaws were easily ignored. Jody Hill is a fucking menace man. He’s a writer and still manages to be the the weirdest movie character I’ve seen in months 😂 Spencer Moreno as Julio was actually the best performance. He really embodied Mr. Simmons by the end of the film. I’d definitely recommend this if you’re a fan of their other work (Eastbound & Down, Observe & Report, Vice Principals, The Righteous Gemstones).
Really liking this depends on how much you like the main character, his actions and the dialogue. It focuses on his journey alone. The situations range from average to good and the pace is OK but there are a few slow moments. Some good characters crop up from time to time and they work well. Some very human moments.
