Much better than I expected. First of all, the location looks gorgeous and the print looks very good. The film itself reminds me of Hammer productions. It is atmospheric, occasionally creepy, generally well-done period piece with an enjoyable story that has some interesting political undertones. There are definitely some dated aspects and things move quite slow but it leads to a satisfying finale. The strong atmosphere, beautiful imagery, special effects that hold up to this day, and character moments help carry you through. The cast delivers some great performances and I always love snow setting in horror films. Great stuff!
