_La rosa di bagdad_ is the first full-length Italian animated film in colour along with Nino Pagot's _I fratelli Dinamite_. If the result of the latter was a little odd, albeit remarkable, here we are faced with a true gem of the animation world. A simple but effective story, which allows the viewer of the time (to be taken well into account) to immerse himself in a distant and fantastic world. Excellent and well-balanced characters. A linear and pleasant screenplay. A set of elements that are unlikely (as Silvia Pingitore has excellently explored in her article _La Rosa di Bagdad vs. Cinderella_) not to remind an attentive viewer of the large number of similarities with the Disney universe to come. Coincidence? Who knows... Speculation aside, Domeneghini offers us here a product of immense care and attention whose result is surreal. And surreal is its little fame, if contextualised with respect to the era in which it was made and in which it was released. After seeing it, one cannot refrain from the need to promote and share this little masterpiece so that it gets the circulation it deserves, among adults and children of all backgrounds. My heartfelt advice is therefore to retrieve _La rosa di Bagdad_ as soon as you get the chance. You will not regret it.
