A terrible movie saved by a bizarre third act. Some of the characters and plot points have been done before, you find yourself laughing at the movie rather than being scared, the story doesn't really make sense, and the acting is bad. Shawnee Smith was especially awful. But the overall metaphor and core concept is intact, and there are some truly wild moments near the end that had me in shock, cheering.
The movie is fine, but it is really odd. Happy I saw it, but I probably won't ever bother re-watching it...
There's no hint that the husband is under a "spell" or whatever, but his wife is 9 months pregnant after a few days and he seems oblivious. Maybe the director is just _horrible_ at visualizing the passage of time and it's actually been 9 months? or is it just a few days, because they make this big reveal about her belly all the time....!? And then that bizarre doctor gleefully talking about how Kathelia "ate" her twin inside the womb, wtf?? And why is the neighbor, Fiona, just randomly a supernatural person too? Then when they go see Fiona about the two-headed doll he's like "uh that's not Kathelia!" after just learning she has a dead twin in her brain, but he accepts that Fiona sees dead people. It's bizarrely written. ...and they didn't even bother making an ending.
I wish I could unsee this entire movie. It made no sense. The acting wasn't good, the plot was stupid and nothing about this movie made any sense. It was just awful for so many reasons.
