I discovered this on UniMás, a Spanish-language channel. In a nutshell, it sucks. I continued to learn about "Paranoia" on Rotten Tomatoes & IMDb.com. Thanks to the latter, I learned this movie wasn't profitable. & suspension of disbelief is ineffective as the handsome Liam Hemsworth plays a tech nerd. Maybe that's why I didn't take the film seriously by following the story & characters & just turned up the volume to listen to explosions, gunshots, & profanity...uh in Spanish. ("Maldito" can mean a lotta things; if you know what "mierda" is you likely didn't learn it in 11th grade Spanish.) I also discovered Harrison Ford's in it, & I assume he doesn't talk much about "Paranoia." Maybe "The Star Wars Holiday Special" is worthier of discussing because of the cult status? & to the lead actress, sorry Amber Heard. If this movie (along with "Drive Angry") is your only film worth airing on TV, it still doesn't supersede the fact you're Johnny Depp's infamous ex (who probably was better off w/ Vanessa Paradis).
a movie about technology and corporate espionage shouldn't be this boring.
I don't know what to say about this movie right now. It has a good cast of actors, such as Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman and Liam Hemsworth. I love that some characters have been drawn out as if they were from real life. I really liked that as a movie that deals with a group of computer scientists, it has a good plot twist at the end to solve the big problem... And then we have the “actress” Amber Heard.
This movie was better than I was expecting given the pretty boring description and the nonsense reviews. Is it a top 100, or even 250 movie? Certainly not, but it's good enough to keep you interested in it and what's going to happen for the duration of the movie. I can't tell you how many movies fail to capture my attention until they're well past half-way through. This one had my engaged since the start and was a fun ride until the end.
Luke Hemsworth has looks but no warmth or personality. This really needs someone to pull you into the story, and he is not the one. When his shirt is off, it really shows his talents. That was the best part of the movie. They should have found a way for him to wear the towel throughout whole movie. For example, the bad guys should have ripped his clothes off to embarrass him, and left him to run home naked or something. Writers really worth their paychecks could have worked out something where he's naked the whole time, AND made the movie better in the process!
