[Annecy '23] From a meeting on a train heading to Auschwitz in 1942, a group of drag queens remember Moïtz "Maurice" Zekri, a well-known Algerian emigrant who runs a gay bar called Maurice's Bar in the Paris of the Belle Époque. Through drawings that are inspired by the paintings of Toulouse-Lautrec and other artists from the beginning of the 20th century, the filmmakers show curved and sinuous forms to express the atmosphere of sexuality and voluptuousness, and also addressing the double stigmatization of the homosexual Jewish community during the Nazi occupation.
