On the Run is another extremely bleak Yuen Biao film. What makes this differ from a “regular” Biao feature, is the total lack of any meaningful martial arts. What we get is a very dark neo-noir, with some excellent lighting and mood. This sets it apart from not just Biao's normal output, but also the typical Hong Kong action film. The acting is good, and the action as hardcore as they come. This is the first time I've seen On the Run in many, many years, and apparently I didn't remember much, because I didn't expect a film that borders on exceptional. Highly recommended!!!
