Synopsis
In a small Minnesota town, the annual beauty pageant is being covered by a TV crew. Former winner Gladys Leeman wants to make sure her daughter follows in her footsteps; explosions, falling lights, and trailer fires prove that. As the Leemans are the richest family in town, the police are pretty relaxed about it all. Despite everything, main rival (but sweet) Amber Atkins won't give up without a fight.

I was expecting a chick-flick but boy was i wrong, i brilliant dark comedy and satire of the beauty pageants.

"No, she's just yelling, "Mom, mom," because she has Tourettes! She's Annette's kid, dipshit." LMAO Not the best movie ever, but it has funny scenes and characters.

"Drop Dead Gorgeous" is a satirical mockumentary with a great cast that pokes fun at beauty pageants in the US. As a sharp-tongued comedy, the film is quite successful in highlighting the absurd aspects of these competitions, and somehow it still has a certain relevance in today's MAGA era. However, the success rate of the jokes is rather mixed. Some scenes are genuinely hilarious, but in places the humor didn't work for me at all. My viewing experience was correspondingly hit and miss. But for the cast and the satirical highlights alone, “Drop Dead Gorgeous” is definitely worth a look.
