I rarely ever write comments/reviews, but this show was just... God, I cannot even put it into words. It had been such a long time since I last sat down and watched a whole show in one sitting, avoiding to pause even to get food, watched without multitasking... But this show, well, it truly captivated my attention, it held it for the whole time. I do not want to give anything away, however, the writing is impeccable. It is funny at times, but insanely heart-wrenching at others. So much of it felt incredibly realistic, and not only did I truly care for the characters, but I also could see parts of me reflected in them. I truly TRULY hope it gets renewed for a second season because I desperately want to know what will happen next. I want to see more of the characters' journeys.
I found it amazing. Quite likely because I personally really like Mae's character and their sweet relationship. The ideas expressed through this felt genuine and everything about the turn of events felt something I could empathize and understand. In that regard, the events are quite practically possible in the real world and we get to see how they deal with some conflicts. Would love to watch more shows like this.
Could someone from trakt fix that obvious, wrong thumbnail of Charlotte Ritchie? The image is of the middle-aged singer, not the actress.
A genuine revelation - Mae Martin is an absolute star. Entirely personal, brilliant comedy that is far too easy to get through in one sitting. Savour this, you'll miss it once it's done.
I hadn’t heard of this series but I saw it listed in Cosmopolitan’s 50 TV COUPLES WHO WILL RESTORE YOUR FAITH IN LOVE, PROMISE, so I gave it a go and ended up binging both seasons. I knew Charlotte Ritchie to be a wonderfully soulful comedic actress from GHOSTS but had never heard of Mae Martin, who turns out to be a wonderful writer, actress and comedian with great depth and heart (and a fellow Canadian, to boot). This series has heart in abundance (and sex as well) but the emotional journey of the couple kept me riveted. Truly a great series. I’m sorry they capped it at two seasons and hope to find more good TV written by Martin. I give this series a 9 (superb) out of 10. [Comedy with heart]
