In dem sechsteiligen Dokudrama „Valley of the Boom“ wird der Aufstieg des Silicon Valleys in den 1990er Jahren porträtiert. Es wird auch darauf eingegangen, wie die sogenannte Dotcom-Blase schließlich spektakulär und mit großen finanziellen Verlusten von Investoren auf der ganzen Welt platzte. Im Mittelpunkt der Reihe stehen Technologieunternehmen wie Netscape, theGlobe.com oder Pixelon, die nach plötzlichem Erfolg sehr hart auf dem Boden der Tatsachen aufschlugen. Wichtige Ereignisse werden in nachgestellten Szenen mit Schauspielern gezeigt. Zu Wort kommen in Interviews auch Akteure wie Milliardär Marc Cuban oder Journalistin Arianna Huffington, die die Geschehnisse einordnen und ihre eigene Rolle im Aufbau und Absturz der ersten Internetgeneration beleuchten.

What a disappointment. I was hoping for a good "biopic" style series, instead it is an intermingling of interview and scripted fiction. I like documentaries. This, I didn't. I stopped at the end of the 1st episode.
It suppose to be a mini series but it's status didn't change after season 1. Series is hard to watch. Story is interesting, characters too. Actors are good. Humor is terrible, directing is not good. It is a waste of time, only for people involved with the industry will be interested in it.
Interesting but not absolutely enthralling look at 90's tech boom made in the same style used for the Mars series, the main difference being that Mars used a fictional storyline intercut with interviews whereas this offering dramatized actual events and intercut with interviews. Personally, I found Valley of the Boom a bit more interesting due to the whole 'truth is stranger than fiction' angle and there's definitely some of that going on.
