If you've read the book(s), don't approach this show expecting a direct adaptation. A few characters have been redefined, but moreover it's missing the wry humor that makes the source material so endearing. Having said that, it still beats most "average people with powers" shows. You'll only find it boring if you don't like the pacing of British television. If you did enjoy this, I recommend Syfy's sadly truncated Alphas and neatly-concluded Haven.
The Rook is kinda cool, but it's greatest power, and Eva's powers, is to put us to sleep, and bore us to death.
It's an intriguing premise. But I feel like it could've been a whole lot better. And I don't mean that in a bad way. It was still good and enjoyable but should've been better. The main storyline was underwhelming, honestly. Myfanwy wakes up with no memory and finds out she's apart of the Checquy, a secret agency that deals with people with unique abilities yet that's barely focused on, what they exist to do. Myfanwy is the main character and attempting to find out what happened to her is the whole point of the show, I get it. I just think what the Checquy do should've been shown and utilized more instead of being on the back burner which shouldn't have been the case.
I AM SUPER SUPER EXCITED! I LOVE THE BOOKS. Here's to hoping they don't screw this up Jun 11 2019
This was a very British spin on people with powers. Beyond the base supernatural principal, it really plays like a spy or political mystery. The casting is excellent as are the performances. The working out of who is wearing white hats or black hats is all part of the puzzle and perspectives shift throughout. I give this series a 7 (a good mystery) out of 10.
