Während ihrer Rede zum Unabhängigkeitstag wird die erste Präsidentin der Vereinigten Staaten von einer Kugel tödlich getroffen. Der Attentäter kann nur knapp entkommen. Drei Monate später findet ein älteres Ehepaar im Wald einen verletzten Mann. Er kann sich an nichts mehr erinnern, nicht einmal an seinen Namen. Einziger Hinweis auf seine Identität ist die Tätowierung „XIII“ an seinem Hals. Und bald stellt sich heraus, dass er eine professionelle Kampfausbildung durchlaufen haben muss. Er verfügt nicht nur über blitzartige Reflexe, sondern auch über einen ausgesprochenen Killerinstinkt.

Pretty good... nice that it isn't dragged out with superfluous padding. Not the greatest acting, heavy on overacting. Lots of extended scenes with characters explaining things to each other -- doesn't seem like natural conversation, tends to become annoying.
Yet another movie where a highly trained Govt operative looses his memory but can still kill everyone, meets a girl, has flashbacks while tracking down his real identity, and finding the person who did this to him. Just once, I'd like to see the person loosing their memory is a Govt tax auditor, or the person who graduated last in their class It could have been much shorter, especially since it dragged a little in the middle (and sure, we might have missed out on a knife fight or two), but overall it wasn't too bad. And it was good to see Val Kilmer in much better form than a lot of his recent movies
