I am not a big Star Trek fan. So this series is for me just a norm Scifi series. And it is a decent one. The effects and gadgets are nice. The characters are quite good and the twists in the story are not the worst ones. I watched it and it was entertaining, but not something I would watch twice...
After 6 episodes I still have to process the different format to previous Star Trek shows. It's a bigger challenge to get familiar with the crew in general, for example. We get to know their relation and standing to Michael, but barely know anything about them, their skills etc. Otherwise the established setting looks interesting, though I feel that it didn't really take off yet. Which isn't uncommon for a first season.
Why us she named Michael?
doesn't actually capture the Star Trek spirit ; like the new star trek movies it's more action then talk but the overall result is something very good ; only thing that was weak was the series ending (it felt like they ran out of buget or ideas on how to make the good guys win) ; let's hope they can keep up the quality of the show in the next seasons.
