Die wohlhabenden Hawthornes aus Boston erfahren, dass ihr kürzlich verstorbener Patriarch mit einer Mordserie zu tun haben soll, die sich über mehrere Jahrzehnte erstreckt. Zudem machen Gerüchte die Runde, dass ein weiteres Familienmitglied sein Komplize gewesen sein könnte. Die Serie hat nichts mit der gleichnamigen Mystery-Serie von 1995 zu tun.

Must be summer — a time when networks unleash a bunch of filler TV that wasn’t good enough to make the fall schedule when viewership is higher. Not all summer series are bad, but American Gothic sure is. By-the-numbers plot, TV-cardboard actors, definitive boredom. Wouldn’t even want to watch this if it were free-to-view on a transatlantic flight.
The pilot was a little tepid IMO.
Oh God, I got to the box of silver bells in the shed and pressed stop. That was quite enough for me. Avoid.
