One of the best series of the last decades, it accurately reconstructs a Court full of intrigue and betrayal, where Thomas Cromwell feels at home. Although the series (and the book) do not dwell on how ruthless the politician could be, establishing family and personal ties that somehow offer a more human view of the character. But the direction is so balanced, the use of dialogue so excellent and the performances so masterful (from some actors who have subsequently developed successful professional careers), that it is a pleasure to witness the machinations of an imperfect man.
Dull, just dull. The Tudors did this, and a lot more, and MUCH better.
Good show, Mark Rylance performance is great, it's not mind blowing but I enjoyed it. Only 6 episodes so give it a try.
this is one of my top 5 shows. never thought they'd even make it to s2. it only took like almost a decade but they did it
Funny to find a series of conversations and intrigues gripping, but it unfolds with such poise and quiet manner as to be bewitching. Not much action, and no fireworks, just an historical drama with penache. Like going to a wedding reception in a way, and finding out the gossip about people you thought you knew.
