I started watching this because I like C. Thomas Howell and I remember watching this "back in the day" when it was first broadcast and really liked it. Well, C. Thomas Howell was the worst part on the show...not his acting exclusively, but his part was terrible. He wasn't needed after the world was introduced in the first episode. Had they knocked him off early, I think this show could have survived. It has an interesting way of explaining the different types of vampire lore and the politics between the vampire clans is quite interesting. If the heart of the show didn't have a stake driven through it's heart, I would have really enjoyed the show a lot more. Even with that flaw, it's a lot of fun. I wonder what HBO would do with this property today.
If you remember that it was made in 1996, it's not too bad. It has its over the top moments but it did start to get pretty good. I would have watched another season.
Starts out pretty average and the pilot was quite bad, but the overall series gets quite good as it continues and has some really great moments in there.
Really cheesy show not sure if I will make it though all eight episodes of it.
