Annie Sugden looks back at the events leading to Christmas. Jack Sugden and Pat Merrick have announced their engagement. But Pat is still on edge - could this be because of her ex-husband Tom's arrival in the village?

Tom continues to reel at Pat for keeping Jackie's paternity secret, whilst Annie and Dolly are infuriated with how distant Jack is with the farm.

The Sugden's land rover is slashed, but nobody knows who it was. Meanwhile, Jackie resorts to alcohol to help escape his problems.

Amos is determined to catch whoever slashed the land rover's tyres. Later, Amos and Henry break up a fight between Jack and Tom. Also, Pat believes that leaving Jack will save her relationship with Jackie.

Sam is shocked when Jackie reveals Jack as his biological father, whilst Donald is shocked when Tom reveals the same. Meanwhile, Annie gives Jack a heated talking to. Also, Joe introduces his girlfriend Lisa.

Annie tries to right the wrongs and begs Tom to help Jackie accept his new family. Meanwhile, Dolly is shocked when Sam goes to Ireland, and is insistent that he won't be returning.

Pat breaks off her engagement to Jack. Meanwhile, Tom has gotten a job in Aberdeen and says goodbye to Jackie and Sandie before his departure.

Dolly is left in charge of the farmhouse as Annie and Sam leave for Ireland. Meanwhile, John tries to get Joe to hire more staff but Joe is unhappy with his interference.

Dolly takes a fancy to the newborn calf, whilst Grace accepts her farming days are over. Jack is cold towards Joe, and Pat is cold towards Jack. Also, Amos and Henry hire Seth as an entertainer.

Seth is upset when he finds out Grace is moving to Hotten without telling him. Meanwhile, Dolly goes to visit the doctors about trying for a baby again. Also, John tries to convince Daniel to return working for NY Estates.

Pat manages to put her foot in it with her other child, and Sandie decides to take off to see Jackie. Meanwhile, Dolly thinks Matt wants there to be a problem with her having children and snaps. Also, Grace leaves for Hotten.

Matt and Dolly make up, whilst Grace's departure becomes common knowledge. Meanwhile, Sandra arrives with bad news for Amos, whilst Seth's performance in The Woolpack is a success.

Dolly receives good news about wanting to have another child, whilst Henry and Amos are impressed with the profits from Seth's performance. Meanwhile, Joe meets Alan Turner - the new Home Farm estate manager.

Matt and Jack are kept busy on the farm with lambing season, but Matt confides in Jack that he's worried for Dolly's health. Meanwhile, Alan gets into the office and already begins discussing future plans with Joe.

Pat gets a promotion from Alan, but Donald is unsure on whether to accept his from the bishop. Meanwhile, the villagers meet Alan and Amos takes a liking to him.

Jack discovers Pat has lied to her, whilst Jackie meets up with ex-girlfriend Jane. Also, Sandie takes an interest in Alan's horse William.

Jack is angry after seeing Pat and Joe together and makes snide remarks. Dolly gets them to stop arguing and gets Pat and Joe to join. Jack is jealous over Joe helping Pat and Dolly makes a remark about Jack's behaviour. Sandie helps Amos write an article on the school play. Jack insults Pat and Joe and they decide to leave abruptly.

Sam and Seamus go fishing. Dolly hints to Matt about what she wants for her birthday. Henry takes Jack to the Feathers to talk. Seamus and Sam make plans to go fishing the next day. Jackie and Joe argue.

It's Dolly's birthday and Matt, Joe and Jack celebrate with her. However, the celebrations come to a halt when Annie calls to let the family know Sam has been taken ill with pneumonia. Meanwhile, Jackie and Pat begin to get their relationship back on track.

The family celebrate as Dolly reveals she is pregnant, but Annie gets a call telling her Sam has taken a turn for the worst. Meanwhile, new curate Bill Jeffries arrives on his motorbike and makes an impression on everyone.

Sam has an emergency operation after his condition deteriorates further, and the family are scared he won't pull through. Meanwhile, Amos is infuriated when an error ends up with the drayman delivering the wrong beer and he refuses to fix the order for Amos.

Sam's operation goes well and the almond causing the blockage and health problems is removed. Meanwhile, Dolly gives Sam some good news about her and Matt's future and Pat finds working as a secretary is a lot more harder than it looks.

The list of problems at Emmerdale Farm keep growing as the crop spraying causes the cattle to stampede. Meanwhile, Henry explodes at Amos and Seth and Jackie decide to skive off work...

Joe's future at NY Estates is in jeopardy when Jack makes clear he will be suing the company. Meanwhile, Jackie gets a raw deal from Seth and Sid's offer is looking attractive...

Sam is intrigued by David's Rubik's cube. He challenges Sam to a game of draughts, but Sam says he will play later on. Alan confronts Joe over the spraying at Emmerdale Farm and that it caused a cow to abort and another to die during a stampede. Alan informs Joe that Joe could lose his job and cost the pilot his license. Bill talks to Jackie and Sandie about what could be done to get people interested in the youth club.

Jackie is horrified to learn that Sid is untrustworthy, and Jack gives Sid a stern warning. Meanwhile, Sandie gets a job in a clothes shop.

Sandie arrives for her first day at Hit 'n' Miss and receives lots of complements from Barry, but are his intentions innocent? Meanwhile, the Sugdens are thrilled when Sam returns home and Henry is thrilled when Amos goes for his holiday.

Jackie has a brush with the law but Seth gets him off the hook. Meanwhile, Dolly and Matt make plans for the barn conversion whilst Joe explodes at Jack.

Sam tries to make Joe and Jack make up, whilst Pat worries about Sandie's inappropriate relationship with her boss.

Alan gives Jack and Pat an offer which could help majorly with problems, but Jack's morals force him into rejecting. Meanwhile, Henry and Seth are suspicious of why Amos is so secretive about his holiday to Costa Del Sol...

Henry finds out the truth about Amos's disastrous holiday when a man arrives at The Woolpack. Meanwhile, Pat and Jack decide on a wedding venue, but Sam is against it.

The situation over who gets the barn conversion contains, however Matt and Dolly find Alan's offer of Tolly's Farm hard to refuse. Meanwhile, Seth's attempts at conning Amos are to no avail when Henry is on him.

Dolly and Matt decide it's time to leave, whilst Sam loses his temper with Joe. Also, Sandie enjoys a date with Teddy.

Alan plans to give Dolly and Matt an offer they can't refuse. Meanwhile, Teddy and Sandie's date is ruined by Jack's arrival.

Donald sets Sam's mind at rest but has made his own decision about the Sugden wedding.

Amos is upset when he doesn't receive an invite to Pat and Jack's wedding, but Seth is the one in for a shock when Amos finally receives an invite. Meanwhile, Teddy is fired by Joe and he prepares for revenge...

Alan gives Matt the offer of a high paying job and a free house, and he heavily considers it - but Emmerdale Farm can't afford to lose him. Meanwhile, Alan informs Joe that Teddy now has grounds for unfair dismissal. At the same time, Teddy breaks into the chemical shed and switches the crop sprayer with weedkiller...

The day has come for Jack and Pat's wedding day, and Jack has managed to get a vicar to bless their wedding as Pat wanted. Meanwhile, Joe stands by his decisions to sack Teddy. Also, Seth goes overboard when he is asked to man the bar in The Woolpack.

Amos and Henry get a shock when they find Seth not behind the bar - instead the vicar! Meanwhile, Teddy's plan to get revenge on NY Estates and frame Jack goes ahead...

A disaster with the crops at NY Estates brings more trouble for Joe.

Jackie confronts Teddy, but their heated exchange results in a brutal punch-up. Meanwhile, Matt and Dolly are given the barn in order to keep Matt on at Emmerdale Farm.

Joe is annoyed when Jackie prioritises spending time with Graham over work. Meanwhile, Dolly is annoyed with the slow progress of the barn conversion.

Henry is fuming over the destruction of Primrose Dingle and pesters Alan. Meanwhile, Pat gets offended when Sam and Jack expect her to give up her job, whilst Seth tells Jackie stories of the army.

Dolly has a fall down the stairs at the barn conversion, but will the baby be OK? Meanwhile, Pat is horrified to learn Graham has convinced Jackie to sign up for the army, and Jackie is annoyed by her disapproval.

Alan is left seething after he discovers Henry has complained to Meadows. Meanwhile, vet Martin Butler takes an interest in Sandie and asks her out.

It's a not so happy birthday for Jackie when Pat forces him to spend his 18th with the family he doesn't want.

Jack and Seth try to talk Jackie out of joining the army but fail. Meanwhile, Dolly and Pat struggle to get on.

Jack is so unhappy with the amount of milk produced that he calls in the vet to check them out. Meanwhile, Matt and Dolly struggle to decide on a baby name, whilst Jackie is interviewed for the army.

Pat is beginning to change her mind about Jackie joining the army, with help from Jack. Meanwhile, Amos makes clear he is furious aout being kept in the dark about the happenings in the village.

Pat and Dolly still fail to get along, whilst Martin and Sandie enjoy their evening together. However, their decision to take their relationship to the next level is ruined when Annie waits for Sandie.

The Home Farm shoot is a disaster: Andy is accidentally shot by Peter, then Peter refuses to allow Home Farm to supply his business. Alan takes his rage out on Jackie, and gives him the sack.

Jackie spirals out of control and, trying to teach Alan a lesson, torches the Home Farm Caravan. Meanwhile, Jack and Matt are stunned to discover the cows' food contained bits of metal, whilst Sandie dumps Martin.

Jackie believes his lies have gotten him off scot-free, but even with Sandie's help, he is still arrested for arson. Meanwhile, Alan helps Matt and Dolly with their furniture problem.

Richard and Seth have narrow escaped when a lorry driver drives dangerously through the village. Meanwhile, Donald convinces Jackie to move into the Vicarage.

Joe sub-consciously accepts a bribe from Alec, whilst Henry complains to Alan about Richard nearly getting killed. Also, Amos is in la-la-land over his weight.

Alan gets a shock when Sgt. MacArthur turns up with bad news. Meanwhile, Joe shows off his flash new car.

Jackie, Sandie and Andy get in trouble when Sam discovers their sherry party at the Vicarage. Meanwhile, Amos takes an interest in walking and Alan confronts another one of Fenton's drivers.

Amos takes his new-found passion for walking too far and ends up stranded at Black Ridge. Meanwhile, Joe gets one step ahead of a deceitful Alec.

The hunt is on for Amos, but will he be found before it's too late? Meanwhile, Donald tries to convince Jackie to plead guilty to arson.

Dolly is embarrassed when she mistakenly believes she's gone into labour. Meanwhile, Henry is incensed when Amos ends up driving customers away.

Dolly goes into labour, but only Jackie, Sandie, Andy and Jane are there to help her. Jackie drives her to the hospital despite having no license, and Dolly has a son just as Matt arrives at the hospital.
