This was a very good series that fell just a step behind The World At War. That series had 26 episodes and was made in 1973. However, WWII From the Frontlines did a great job of summing the whole war up in only 6 episodes. I like the way they moved back and forth through the show to give you the feeling that multiple battles did occur at the same time. The colouration was excellent, and we got to see footage from all sides. You just can't imagine the scale that this war was on until you see scenes like the D Day invasion. A big thanks has to go to everyone that suppressed Hitler back to where he came from and also the heroic people who filmed all of this.
So inaccurate, if you want a great documentary about WWII, watch “Apocalypse: Second World War “ https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQv7ILzUxt5Y-G-r0zg2hVcuwg7jgHkKk&si=wWk_Y-ORrsiSYldy
Interesting, who knew that from 1941 onwards it was those plucky brave Americans who fought Germany and Japan alone until Roosevelt was gracious enough to do the Soviet Union a favour at the end and let them take Berlin. Wonderful, well treated footage, with the usual America-focused drivel as the narrative.
6 episodes is not nearly enough to go in depth, but to skip Operation Marketgarden felt weird. Most of the series is too generic for most WWII enthusiasts I would think, but it has some interesting parts.
A full colour view of world War II. Horrific in many ways, the brutality of war. Over 60 million dead! It was interesting to listen to the interviews and how some of them choked up at the violence and horror they had witnessed first hand 😪😔. May this tradegy of Ww II never, ever be repeated! 🙏
