I was so excited to see this come out, then I actually watched it. Can we PLEASE just stop trying to wokify classics? If you want a strong female lead, write an original with a strong female lead.
[Prime Video] It attempts to offer a more modern perspective of the Zorro character by establishing it as the representation of an idea of freedom rather than assigned to a person, introducing inclusive elements such as strong female characters and indigenous conflicts. But finally it ends up being a strange mix between a comic book aesthetic, poorly executed choreography and a level of production that doesn't reflect the high budget. Zorro ends up being too bland, without a sense of humor or acrobatic skills, buried under Miguel Bernardeau's lack of charisma.
I love the original take on the storyline which evidently goes back to the roots of the story. Contrary to other comments, I read that the original story had the diversity, it was only whitewashed in other stories. But the execution is off. I honestly don't care if it gets renewed. For me it was ok but not great.
What the fuck kind of ending was that? They just rushed the ending with wrapping up hardly anything and leaving open questions. This is some seriously stupid writing. Focused way too much in wokeness and diversity at the expense of disjointed story telling. Just a bunch of random shit for 10 hours. What a waste of time. Don’t bother with this unless all you care about is making sure you see woke and diversity but don’t give a flying fuck about an actual story.
Could’ve been a great show if it wasn’t so focused on diversity and inclusion so the modern audience can jerk off to it. Characters are all over the place: * The female Zorro. Why? She’s a terrible choice * A mute. Why complicate the viewers experience * A chinese that doesn’t speak English or Spanish. Wtf? Another complication * Russians. Another random element * some secret society * a random assassin storyline that even after 7 episodes doesn’t make sense * Too much focus on trying to make the strong female character but ends up randomizing the show * Drags in for 10 episodes. The only thing this show is good for is background noise. If you have 10 hours, don’t waste your time investing it in this show.
