An actual ninja show with depth, world building and heart...we need more of these
House of Ninjas - ❤x7 This is a really good show. It has heart, humor, and some good ninja action - which we could have used a bit more of. The Last episode of the season did have more ninja action - so that was a nice surprise. How I rate: 1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time 4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this 7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too 9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
"House of Ninjas" feels like an AI was given the order: "Write the script for a ninja series, with mysterious characters" "House of Ninjas" takes so much of your time and gives you nothing in exchange. The whole series is just so "empty" - flat characters, boring plot and simple dialogue. They just found as many clichés as they could and crammed them into a series. The only positive thing about this series is that the fights are pretty well done. Don't waste your time here, unless you don't mind not having to think for yourself at all in a series because everything is so damn unimaginative.
>*–"We're ninjas?" –"Shinobis. Only clueless fools ever call us ninjas. We're shinobis."* Far from perfect and perhaps a little forgettable down the line but I had a good time watching this and it's a good mix of action and emotions. Took a few episodes but the characters and family aspect eventually grew on me, some characters don't feel quite fleshed out though like the villains or even the two parents. Strangely enough, the best characters are the grandma and Riku they're such a fun duo and the show just lights up whenever they're around. Wanted more of them even though they're not that important to the main story. Karen might be in third place for best character. The mystery at the beginning with Haru and Karen was the most interesting point in the story, after that it lost some heat story wise. Love the score in episode 8 and "Our House" was the prefect song choice in episode 5, that moment was a highlight. There's a sloppy move here and there and the choreography is a little fake but the action sequences mostly look good and they're thrilling. Some sequences are shot in complete darkness and I couldn't see anything unfortunately. The show could've used more action, it got quiet in the middle and I forgot this was a shinobi show at times. Episodes 7 and 8 have lots of satisfying action at least, episode 8 was especially epic. I'd take a second season but you need to step it up with everything and i'm not sure Netflix can give it that budget. Kept waiting for that black cat to show off some cat ninja tricks!
The only great thing about this show was the Glorious weird black cat.
