Im Wohnwagen des bescheiden lebenden Gärtners Joe Thomas (Iwan Rheon) wird die DNA der seit 18 Jahren vermissten Ela Roberts (Ella Peel) entdeckt. Schließlich wird Thomas festgenommen und kommt in Untersuchungshaft. Doch Auskunft zu seinem Motiv, dem genauen Tathergang oder dem Verbleib der Leiche gibt er nicht. Kann er etwa doch nichts zu dem Mord sagen? Als Joe entlassen werden soll, bricht für Elas Mutter Sharon (Joanna Scanlan) eine Welt zusammen. Kann ihre Tochter nun niemals gefunden werden? Zeitgleich stößt die Journalistin Cat Donato (Alexandra Roach) bei ihren Recherchen zu dem Fall in dem kleinen Ort Llanemlyn schnell auf deutlich mehr Gegenwind als erwartet.

[BritBox] A mystery plot that ends up being too insubstantial, trying to give depth to the characters that it achieves to the extent that the actors do their part. Joanna Scanlan is splendid as a mother who fails to heal the wounds of her daughter's disappearance, while Iwan Rheon has little to do with a character who only serves to push the plot along, not really having much to say except wander around trying to recover lost memory. In the end it is a thriller as predictable as it is bland.
This is a contemporary drama, the murder was 2002, yet 'her song' was Kylie and Jason, from 1989?? The timeliness don't match up.
