So... No one watched "Shogun"? What's wrong with people? WAAAH I NEED MY ENGLISH, I'M ILLITERATE AND CAN'T READ WORDS WAAAH This show is great.
iI think people are upset because it is not in English, it is in Hawaiian English with subtitles. I was confused at first, but will watch when I can focus on reading - I am seeing negative reviews so far to this, so I wanted to call it out, but the show seems interesting Edit (2025-09-19): Completed the show - review below This is not an action show, though there is a lot of action in it, this is a tale, a journey of the life of Ka'Iana, the eventual Chief of War to King Kamehameha I. So if you are expecting an pure action film you will be disappointed, this show has a story to tell, so buckle up, put down your device, and enjoy. The acting in this was top notch across the board, the story was well done, and after I process the finale, I will sit down to re-watch the entire series to catch what I missed, and spend more time enjoying stuff. I really enjoyed this, I love historically "accurate" when done well. Now, about the ending...
Clearly they planned a season 2, I mean the fucking ended it with King Kahekili about to fucking attack... FYI, it has bot been renewed or canceled, though per google, an update is/was expected in September of 2025, so any time now?
Side Note: Something I learned when looking up the actors, as I knew Temuera Morrison was from New Zealand, and of Māori descent, but the Māori are also Pacific Islanders, like Hawaiians, I mean if you look on a map, it seems to be pretty close to the Samoan Islands.. I just never put two and two together, and thought Māori were more closely tied to Aboriginal Australians, TIL, just cool facts for me...
Wow people are really on here whining like little babies because the language is authentic and the little crybabies need to reeeeeeeeead words. Fucking losers. It's a very good show...
I had a feeling this show is going to be epic. The first 2 episodes delivered. I’ll reserve my rating and final verdict until I watch the rest of the episodes as they are released. So far, I loved the storytelling and the cinematography of the show. Most of the dialogue is in the native language. Subtitles require a bit of attention due to this aspect, otherwise you’ll lose interesting plot points. This reminds me of the movie Apocalypto. A similar ironic vibe, where the natives were killing each other to own and rule land before the white man rocked up and stole everything for good.
More like Chief of Bore. :scowls in jason momoa:
