Deserves more than a 6/10. As a stand alone product I think the show is actually pretty good as a action/thriller spy series, and I'm not even a splinter cell fan (although I have played the games when I was a kid). However, I think that they could have explained the world/characters more in detail for people that have absolutely no prior knowledge of the series. I unironically think people are hating on this just because Sam Fisher isn't the sole main character, because I can't understand why ppl rated this so low.
I finished watching Splinter Cell: Deathwatch last night, and I think it’s an underrated series that deserves more attention. As someone who’s played Splinter Cell: Conviction and Blacklist, I noticed this show takes a different approach to the characters and world we know, offering a fresh perspective that sets it apart. It’s not a direct copy of the games, but that doesn’t make it any less compelling. As a standalone show, the writing is solid, with characters that hold interest. The world-building and atmosphere stand out, reminding me of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (especially the Polish sequences, which echo Prague’s neon-noir feel) while the action and tension bring a In Bruges/John Wick-style edge. Some argue Sam feels like a side character, and they’re partly right—his role is smaller than in the games. But having exprienced many story-driven works, I see this as a deliberate move for setting the stage for future seasons to focus more on him. Overall, it’s a welcome addition to the franchise with a few rough edges (like some plot holes). Hopefully, it sparks traction and maybe paves the way for a new game.
Very nice series. Beautiful art style and thrilling dynamic story
Look how they massacred my boy.
It's not bad. Not bad at all. Actually, it's a pretty good animation. BUT I believe every Sam Fisher's fan would rather play a new "Splinter Cell" game than watch this. But hey, there's no way to make open-world "Splinter Cell" with towers, so...
