Don't bother with the dubbed versions - stick with the original script and the subtitles!

Well after seeing every episode I honestly believe DB is extremely underrated. Goku's innocence and ignorance gives the series a magnificent charm. I really love the fact the this series actually has a stronger focus on the sense of adventure rather than being focused on the fights that this franchise eventually came to be known for. Seeing characters that eventually fade into unimportance in DBZ actually be relevant and reliable makes DB feel unique when compared to the future series that spawned after. I was actually shocked at the number of appearances Great Ape Goku makes, I was expecting it to be more but eh I'm not complaining. The adult humor in the show is an amazing unexpected surprise. Unexpected because DB is way more lighthearted than DBZ, some of the jokes probably wouldn't even be around if it was a modern day show.

I never really watched this before — just have a vague memory of seeing my dad watching it on TV about 20 years ago when I was a kid. I knew the character, but I was never into it since I didn’t quite understand it back then (I think I was around 11 at the time). Now I’m 32, and out of the blue, my husband suggested we give it a try. So I did — and oh man, it was hilarious. I can totally see where Eiichiro Oda got his inspiration for One Piece. The vibe, the humor — it’s all there. You can even spot similarities like the building designs and little world-building details that feel so familiar. I 100% recommend this if you’re into One Piece too. Eiichiro Oda himself is a huge fan — and once you watch this, you’ll get why. ❤
