An interesting document, showing not so much the cause of the catastrophe as the place of the common man in the state machine. You don't know anything and you won't learn anything because someone has already made that decision for you.

[HBO Max] An interesting approach to the long history of investigations surrounding the sinking of the M/S Estonia in 1994, whose official conclusions were not satisfactory. But the documentary doesn't stop at the story of the controversial decisions taken by the governments regarding the remains of the ship, but rather directly addresses the conspiracy theories, leading to a kind of thriller that doesn't reach any conclusion, posing many more questions that were there at the beginning, with a certain tendency to manipulation.

The fact that they wanted to entomb the wreck in concrete, dumped tons of rocks and gravel around it, and have forbidden anyone to investigate or even dive near it, to me reeks of a cover-up, and someone trying to hide SOMETHING. Kudos to the investigator for having the ingenuity to use a mini ROV to explore the wreck without actually diving on it and for finding the BFH (Big Freeking Hole) amidships at the waterline that the "experts" said wasn't there, and, also a hat tip to the Finnish Coast Guard Captain for backing off and letting them do so. (He HAD to wonder why he was out in the middle of nowhere guarding a 26 year old wreck) Curiouser still is the Swedish guvment's response to the new evidence, which was basically, "nuthin to see here folks, move along", and their attempt no to prosecute the investigator for exposing the cover-up. Hopefully, this will get reopened, but, I kind of doubt it ever will.
