Das geheime Verbrechen
Die junge Studentin Ophelia verliebt sich an der Universität von Cambridge in ihren charismatischen Dozenten Michael Callaghan. Der ist jedoch mit der erfolgreichen Autorin Roisin Mulvery verheiratet, was den Ehemann Michael nicht davon abhält, eine leidenschaftliche Affäre mit Ophelia anzufangen. Dann verschwindet Michael spurlos und Ophelia findet ihn schließlich in seiner Heimatstadt in Nordirland. Dort erfährt sie, dass seine Frau bei einem Brand ums Leben kam. Der tragische Unfall passierte an dem Abend, als Michael Roisin seine Affäre gestand. Ophelia wird ins düstere Familienanwesen aufgenommen. Dann lernt sie den attraktiven Feuerwehrmann Sean kennen. Als schon bald merkwürdige Dinge vorgehen, lassen die Ereignisse Ophelia an ihrem Verstand zweifeln.

A thriller plot that is not so predictable in its turning points, but that cannot avoid falling into the cliché either. The creation of the characters is its weak point, because it does not introduce any particularly novel nuance. We know at all times what the role of each of them will be, even if their performances take place in a more or less well-developed context. In the end, it turns out a miniseries that works better when held in mystery than when it begins to reveal it.
Dull series overall. A weak plot and not very good acting.
Overall pretty good, at times you question who really is behind the death. At times it looked like it was going to go into the supernatural/ghost plot line, but it isn't that at all. Good twits and turns along the way, but don't confuse it with the best of the shows that come out of the UK. Solid 7.5/10
