„Planet Erde“, eine Dokumentation des BBC ist die am längsten gedrehte und teuerste Sendung ihrer Art. Sie zeigt außergewöhnliche Bilder von Naturereignissen, interessantem Tierspektakel und Orten die man so noch nie gesehen hat. Die Sendung wurde in knapp 130 Ländern weltweit gezeigt und gewann mehrere Emmy Awards. Die meisten Preise gab es vor allem für Kameraführung und Bilder. Die Kamerateams haben insgesamt mehr als 2000 Tage in der Natur verbracht und haben die Ergebnisse in elf Episoden von „Planet Erde“ zusammengetragen. Dabei wurden weder die Jahreszeiten noch Landschaftsstrukturen ausgelassen. Egal ob Nord -und Südpol, Gebirge, Meere, Höhlen, Eis, Schnee, Hitze oder Wüsten, alles wurde gefilmt und verarbeitet. Die Welt der Tiere in freier Wildbahn, festgehalten in HD und fast 600 Minuten Serienfieber. Ein Muss für alle Naturliebhaber. Es wird immer wieder aufs Neue mit Verstand und Detailliebe durch das Programm geführt. Welchen Gefahren und Umständen die Teams dabei ausgesetzt waren, zeigt sich im Laufe der Episoden von „Planet Erde“.

My favourite is the 1x08: Jungles... The Ant fungus, followed by the Chimpanzee raids? Nuts.
Beautiful, at times breathtaking photography. The amount of hours they put into this is crazy (watch the diaries if possible) but well worth it. This is one, if not the, most comprehensive nature documentary around. And you don´t have to be a nature freak to enjoy this. And with the end of the final episode it conveys a massage we all should think about. I´ve been watching this ten years after it was released and a man has just become president who thinks climate change is a lie and who would do anything to get into the last nature resorts, just for exploitation, without hesitation. Not that he is the only one but you wonder how it will be ten years from now.
Like Carl Sagan's Cosmos but for nature.
Amazing! Everyone should see this! And I'm not just saying that because I'm an environmental hippie that likes to learn a bit more about nature, or because David Attenborough is a personal hero of mine, but the images are just so incredibly gorgeous!
Wonderful nature docuseries. The only downside is that it was made before the era of 4K HDR video. More recent nature documentaries tell many of the same stories, but are more visually striking. (And are also narrated by David Attenborough)
