I’ll admit even though I’m a massive SpongeBob nerd who’s been a fan of SpongeBob ever since I learned my first ever word, I’ve never been blown away by any of the movies apart from the first SpongeBob movie of course which is one of my favourite animations ever but man I’m super happy to say that The Search For SquarePants really surprised me by how awesome it was and it was so much fun, as a lifelong goofy Gober member I definitely approve of this film. I honestly didn’t expect this film to be this good but I had such a super fun time with this and it’s the best SpongeBob movie I’ve seen in freaking ages. I was pretty sceptical about the animation at first and although I would’ve preferred it a lot more if it had the classic 2D animation, it wasn’t too bad actually and yeah I know the live action part looked a little off but I actually loved it as it was absolutely hilarious to look at and come on SpongeBob is meant to be super wacky anyway so it didn’t bother me at all and to be honest it’s my favourite part of the film if anything. The characters were amazing and after all these years they literally feel exactly the same, I mean SpongeBob’s still super annoying, Mr Krab’s still incredibly tight, Patrick is still…well thick as shit and Squidward is still a walking misery and is so relatable. I was a little surprised how they didn’t include Sandy or Plankton to much here though but I’m guessing that was due to their own films not going down too well. The big standout in this movie for me was easily the Flying Dutchman as he was literally funny as hell and was such a amazing villain, Mark Hamill was absolutely perfect for this role especially as live action Dutchy which was hilarious, I literally loved that rollercoaster scene so much. I am gonna give this movie a super solid 8.5 out of 10 and may even give it a 9 on a rewatch as it was such an awesome animation and if you love SpongeBob as much as me, I recommend this a lot. 8.5/10

Haven’t watched anything SpongeBob related in I don’t know how many years it’s been a very long time anyway so I thought this movie would be a good way to refresh my childhood memories. What I remember from watching SpongeBob when I was younger is that it’s incredibly goofy and silly and that definitely was the case with this movie aswell, I actually found the plot quite fun though with SpongeBob trying to become a Swashbuckler so he could show Mr Krabs he’s brave just like him. SpongeBob and Patrick are still so Wacky but there friendship is always adorable to watch and Patrick is so innocent he just doesn’t even know what’s going on for the most part makes you love him even more. The Flying Dutchman was a pretty great villain I think found him really fun with him and his crew all being pirate ghosts and literally his name this for sure gives me pirates of the Caribbean vibes. The effects weren’t too bad as i thought they was going to be considering it’s 3d except from the parts where went live action they were terrible honestly but they kinda fit the SpongeBob vibe I guess. Just a fun time nothing to serious here which I did liked about it and I loved the ending really wholesome and the story between Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob was lovely to watch too. 8/10.

I thought this was more fun than the previous movies, but I am not into Spongebob, we went with our kids... That said, I have seen most of the movies, and this one was my favorite to date, maybe it was just Clancy Brown and Mark Hamill, but I just got a lot of laughs from this...
