This movie tells the story of the first black basketball player to sign for the NBA. While the goal of the movie is to show the racism at the time and the achievement of Sweetwater for the whole black community, it does so by telling it in a naive and pathetic way. This goes so far that the clichés constantly put forward are at times painful to endure. Furthermore, they just alter key historic facts for the purpose of dramatisation, which diminishes the value of the movie considerably. While still Ok, they could have made a good or even great movie by being less cliché and closer to the reality. The man (and his colleagues) deserve to be honoured for what they achieved and not for something some moviemaker wished they had done. The reality is by far good enough for a great movie. Just tell it right.
