A remarkably interesting film that takes you back centuries and centuries... May this be fiction or non-fiction, we may never quite know for certain, but the possibility is so shocking, so amazing. A brilliantly written film and I must say that seeing Leonardo DiCaprio with long locks has been quite the treat, too.
After many years without seeing it, we watched it again and I still like it, the actors, the tone
This is an enjoyable movie, even if not not technically or critically brilliant. A reasonable modern remake of a classic film, the setting is rich and the plot well paced. It's aged moderately well since 1998 and you can enjoy Titanic-era DiCaprio with luscious locks. Lots of familiar faces, Jeremy Irons makes a sarcastic and entertaining Aramis. John Malkovich is a bit of a downer even though it's Porthos who's supposed to have lost his lust for life (although not the ladies). Was surprised to see Hugh Laurie make a cameo though he has no speaking part.
★★★½☆ (3.5/5) A sweeping swashbuckling drama with classic adventure energy. The royal intrigue and Musketeer camaraderie give it a grand, old-fashioned feel. It leans into melodrama at times, but the performances and lavish production design keep it engaging. Entertaining, dramatic, and satisfyingly theatrical.
Surprisingly good film, with surprisingly interesting character, with enought depth, and a satisfying conclusion to it all
