i can't forgive this movie for a few reasons. 1-- the protagonist is one of the dumbest characters to ever come out of a horror film (this is saying a lot). 2-- sexual torture is not my jam. essentially, my experience summed up: please god one of you stop stabbing the clown once and running away sobbing + rinse & repeat, add a gratuitous helping of torture porn, et voila. the portrayal of art the clown was a phenomenal performance, though.

Dumbest people in this movie... Dont lose your time

This is the 20 min short used in the *All Hallows' Eve* anthology introducing the creepy, maniacal and psychopathic Art the Clown. Although short I found it to be very effective. Super stylish, the use of dark and grainy picture and synth music are a perfect mix in creating an eerie atmosphere. The blood, the gore and the practical effects are fantastic. The ending was perfect!

Better than the 9th Circle by having more Art, but beyond that not much to see here. The acting besides Gianelli’s just doesn’t sell any of this. Gianelli works as this hateful little thing, but I wouldn’t call it an iconic all time performance either. The film grain’s fine, it’s trying for a snuff film kind of vibe, but it just doesn’t ooze the hate and horror needed. The best horror of this ilk makes it feel like the killer and the world are intertwined into a horrific moodscape, reflecting each other. This is just an edgy clown, right down to misogyny that doesn’t add anything or has anything to say, it just makes it more ‘shocking’ and ‘horrible’. There’s definitely a lot more room to grow with this character and filmmaker, so I can at least understand why Leone stuck with it.
