I was surprised at the story of Rick James. We knew the persona. The person had a lot more depth than the persona. Shame really. As one of his friends says, change and hope come from within and it's a shame he didn't find it. There are so many broken people in the world. Here's a story of a broken person getting everything he ever wanted and still not fixing the pain. His story is insightful, well presented and reflects a lot of people today. Disappointing. I love music documentaries but Rick James? He never scored any top 40 hit singles or albums. I wanted to watch to find out who he was, but largely they went nowhere with this doc. I think he was only known in USA, so should have explained to the rest of the world who he was and where he came from.
