Growing up is difficult enough, but when your classmates start exploding around you? Well, it's just mind blowingly awful. The film, on the other hand, is great. A simple romantic tale told in a way that Cronenberg would be proud of.
I was enjoying this at first, but got a bit bored of it around the halfway point.
I’m such a sucker for narrative style that the quick cuts and fourth wall breaking hooked me right at the start. I’m also a sucker for movies that gleefully mix and play with different genres, so this movie really played for me. I was surprised how much I liked it and I think it really stuck the landing in quite a ride
this movie isnt good, but its a fun concept and theres a couple of nice moments. its very 2020, possibly in the worst way. stupid but kinda fun i guess
With my sister wanting me to watch the new romantic movie she liked, ‘Purple Hearts’, I had to show her one of my favorite romantic movies, ‘Spontaneous’. This movie is magical and it still seems like it’s basically unknown. It is 100% a high school love story, that deals with the metaphorical hardships of life. It’s got serious meanings, yet doesn’t take itself too seriously. The interesting part of the movie is that if the movie was as is, but some serious illness that was taking out a bunch of kids, it would be a tearjerker. If it leaned into some cheesy conflict, it probably wouldn’t work. If they lean a little harder, it’s probably not very good. But pushing the issue balls to the wall to get their point across, simply really works. I’ve watched this movie three times now, and I’m excited for the next time I get around to it. Rating: 4.5/5 - 9/10 - Highly Recommend
