Ro - amusing enough Go - watchable Pa - stupid in-jokes but and the usual Catholicism and homosexuality but Welles was amusing G - meh I feared the worst when I found this film. I didn't know who Ugo Gregoretti was until I looked him up. Maybe he had potential in 1963 but he doesn't seem to have gone on to do anything too significant. An anthology film, amounting to not very much with sections by Rosselini, Godard, Passolini and Gregoretti. Rossellini's whimsical, light hearted contribution is probably the best which doesn't surprise me because although I don't think any of his films are better than 'quite good', that's a lot more than I can say for your average Godard or Passolini film. Passolini's was probably the worst. I have no idea what that guy was on but his films are pretty much boring and crap. Though Salo (1968) is a well made film. I didn't love any of them but I didn't really get bored. So it's a slightly positive opinion I have about it. But I won't watch it again.
