Very engaging and thrilling movie, very good the lead actor. On the other hand, it strongly smelled of a very fictional and made-up story (common in many films about mafia and such), and especially in the ending it takes the most predictable path. This latter aspect could be the main reason why it did not gain that good following outside the arthouse world and outside Italy.

Like when you're at the restaurant and your friend's meal looks better than yours, Nostalgia is well made but made some wrong choices. In this film about an Italian expat who returns to Naples after a 40-year absence, they ended up ignoring the relationship they spent the most time developing. Sadly, great acting and directing couldn't cleanse my palate of the So What taste in my mouth after the film ended.
