Handlung
Antonia Brico kommt in Rotterdam als Tochter einer unverheirateten Katholikin auf die Welt. Die Pflegeeltern nennen sie Wilhelmina Wolthuis und emigrieren mit ihr in die USA. In Kalifornien studiert die talentierte Pianistin zusätzlich das Dirigieren, denn sie möchte unbedingt Dirigentin werden. Doch im Jahr 1929 ist diese Profession noch exklusiv für Männer. Wilhelmina lässt sich nicht beirren in ihrem Wunsch und schafft es als 24-Jährige bei den Berliner Philharmonikern zu debütieren.

There were hardly any reviews on this movie other than it was a decent watch on a rainy day. I could see how people might think that, but I think they missed the beauty of the movie. This movie is about the spirit of a woman fighting against all odds, and the lead is amazing in that role. I laughed, I cried, and I was fully invested throughout the whole movie. The run time is rather long, but I think that adds to the feel of an epic that this movie has, not unlike Cold War. Cold War.
