The World: La France: Let's make another movie about Casanova! The World: Uhm, it's 2019. La France: Oui, but he'll be old and sensitive. The World: OK...? La France: And every woman will throw herself at him anyway. Except one woman. She'll be a prostitute-- The World: Wait... La France: --who antagonizes him by refusing to sleep with him so he'll fall in lust with her-- The World: Hold on... La France: --and she'll be a child 1/3 his age whom he met for the first time when he gave her expensive gifts and she was only 11! The World: Can't we just watch Amélie again? Dreadful film, this. It's rare that a film can be so politically incorrect yet be so painfully boring at the same time. And while Stacy Martin was a delightful choice for the ingenue, Vincent Lindon (the French Fozzie the Bear) is as credible a choice for Casanova as Kathy Bates (though she is the better actor).
