A24 have done it again. Fantastically shot with many a twist and turn, Low Tide is a genre blending caper that shouldn't be overlooked. Great performances from all involved, and a splendid directoral/writing credit for McMullin; definitely some names to keep an eye on for the future. Ending musings:
Still wondering over the significance of the 5 Star Shooter scene at the beginning at the fairground. Obviously there was the heavy foreshadowing of Peter's wounded eye ("You aim better with one eye"), but were the 5 Stars supposed to symbolise our protagonists? How they will all be hurt or changed irreparably before the summer is over? Will definitely be going back to this one sooner rather than later to see if anything else comes to light on a second viewing.
Low Tide is low key, and this doesn't always work in its favour. The actors are all good, but the story is familiar, and a little too drawn out. Its not a bad film by any means - a second viewing might be needed, if the other comments on this page are anything to go by - but I wasn't blown away by my first viewing.
I love Jaeden Martell, defo getting better by age and he did a good job on his role along with the rest the cast.. I enjoyed the film, It was high tide for me but did think the ending could of been better..
Alan and Peter don't look like brothers, lol. That minor complaint aside I really liked this movie, it hit all the right spots for me and it was really shot beautifully. One of the first things I watched on my 4k TV that I really noticed the difference. Good movie with a good story that was better then I was expecting as well. I'd rewatch this one again.
