John Travolta stars in the racecar drama Trading Paint. When his son quits his stock car racing team to drive for someone else Sam Munroe comes out of retirement and puts everything on the line in order to win. Co-starring Michael Madsen, Kevin Dunn, and Shania Twain, the cast is pretty decent, but the performances are rather middling. Also, the directing is really poor; particularly the racing scenes, which are dull and lifeless (and made more so by the inept announcers). Still, the father/son drama is well-done, if not a bit rote, through Travolta makes it work. Disappointing and uninspired, Trading Paint is completely forgettable.

Not fast, and not at all furious. This mediocre racing drama stalls at the starting line and is proof, if any were really needed, that scientology does not do what it professes, and that is to make a success of your career. Sorry JT.
