god it's probably just me but i really thought that sierra and veronica were gonna completely forget about jamey and get together by the end of the movie
I loved it !! This is such an adorable movie, and yes, my favorite part is hands down the relationship between Sierra and Veronica, which I noticed right away in the trailer. Yay for subverting the popular girl-mean girl trope and for having such a beautiful, positive female friendship take the stage! And I know people are saying they wish Sierra hadn't gotten the guy at the end, but nah man, I love me some cutesy romance.
Okay, first I was liking Sierra, yes she was a dork but she was strong. She respondend to her bullies and that part of her was great. Then the catfishing thing.... there is no excuse for that. And then she even betrays her friends. She showed that she is just a mean, self-absorbed girl who thinks is a victim all the time. So I hated Sierra's character, simply a stupid girl who got what she wanted but definitely didn't deserved it. This movie was predictable and made no sense. The boy should never accept it and in real life he wouldn't. Who would want a lier, manipulative bitch?? In the end we realize that the "Mean Girl" of the movie, Veronica, is way better person and more honest that the protagonist. This movie failed miserably in being a romantic comedy... Just horrible.
Yup Sierra Burgess really is a loser...and a manipulative selfish bitch. Don’t ever catfish people okay, it’s bad and terrible. No matter how you put it or turn it into a romantic comedy film like this it’s just wrong and messy and it hurts people’s feelings. Don’t do it.
There are so many problematic things in this movie! How is any of this okay. From catfishing, to non-consensual kissing, to the transphobic/homophobic jokes, to faking a disability, to cyberbulling... the list just goes on. We should not romanticize any of these things. None of this is empowering for women or for people who are overweight.
