My Favorite Wife is a lovely little gem of a comedy. Irene Dunne and Cary Grant together will always be great, and in this one it really shines. Cary Grant has the best double take I have ever seen early on, and a teasing Irene Dunne is probably one of the most attractive woman ever seen. The only thing that could have made this better was if Gail Patrick's character was written a bit more sympathetic. As it stands, you know right away who's gonna end up together. My Favorite Wife is a great comedy and a movie I will certainly revisit from time to time.
Cary grants character was just an asshole with no redeeming qualities. He over complicated everything with everyone by withholding the simple explanation for no reason, which made it annoying, not funny. A happy ending would have been him ending up alone
This movie is classic comedy at its best. The only thing that made it less enjoyable is that I had already seen "Move over, darling" which was a remake of this movie in the 60's. I didn't realize it was a remake and when I started watching this movie I was confused that it seemed to be the same plot as the other movie I had already seen. I wish I had seen this one first but the truth is they were both fun and I enjoyed both of them!
