Underrated musical with probably one of the most direct stage-to-film Broadway productions ever. Only Tab Hunter was not in the original production...they even kept the director! ...and frankly, Tab's involvement adds nothing, but the show is really about Mr. Hand, er, Applegate and Lola anyway! Great tunes "Heart" and "Whatever Lola Wants" elevate the movie as does Bob Fosse's choreography, but it is tough to get through the staginess of the entire affair. But a pure experience nonetheless.
