The movie is based on a book set in rural Albania, which is skillfully transposed to the Brazilian backlands. In this setting, families live in eternal conflict, where the maxim "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" prevails. The cinematography, at once beautiful and arid, intensifies the tense atmosphere of the narrative. In the midst of this context, there is room for the development of the characters in a romance that, although it carries a dose of drama that is sometimes exaggerated and unnecessary, does not overshadow the main plot. The performances of the cast are remarkable, with special mention going to Rodrigo Santoro and José Dumont, who deliver outstanding and memorable interpretations.
