A Film With Me In It tells the story of a day that goes from bad to worse by way of a series of darkly funny accidents that the truth can’t hope explain. Mark (Mark Doherty) and Pierce (Dylan Moran) are an unemployed actor and an uninspiring screenwriter with little prospect of achieving their dream to write, star and direct a film. The first 20 minutes set up everything you need to identify the catalysts for the increasingly bizarre accidents in Mark’s apartments that leave bodies piling up. They get it all out up front so it is then a fun ride trying to work out what is going to happen, when and to whom, and then to reel as Pierce leads Mark to try and cover up the unbelievable truth as only a screenwriter can. A Film With Me In It is a dark comedy that came as a refreshing surprise when I first saw it upon release and the hook still works a second time around. Dylan Moran gives a great performance and if you are a fan of his you won’t be disappointed here. The end is very satisfying and rounds out a great little film. Recommended. Totally Accidental!
You're clearly capable of more than you are in your current life. Setbacks are temporary, just around the corner... When everything happens, you can't fix it, and it gets worse, and worse. There's no way to explain it anymore, it's all so confusing, no one will believe it. All that's left is your skill, right? You could even make a movie about it later, starring yourself. It'll be funny, right?
