Eine Serie von Erdstößen erschüttert Los Angeles. Ingenieur Jack, justament mit Tiefbohrungen zum Zwecke der Gasgewinnung beschäftigt, passt es daher gar nicht, dass seine Teenagertochter ausgerechnet jetzt mit Freunden zum feuchtfröhlichen Camping in die Wälder fährt. Tatsächlich kommt es, wie es kommen muss: Ein Erdbeben der höchsten Klasse 10 droht ganz L.A. in einen Lavasee zu verwandeln. Jack aber hätte noch eine Idee, wie sich die Katastrophe abwenden ließen, und gewinnt in der Geologin Emily eine wichtige Verbündete.

This is so bad and that’s why I like it! I adore trash disaster movies. The cheesy effects are the icing on this shit cake!

Well, even by disaster movies' very low standard, this really is a C possibly D grade movie. While the premise and rationale make sense, the acting, writing, and special effects belong in the 1980s. The effects for a disaster filled LA was better in the opening sequence in **Demolition Man (1996)** than in this movie.

This is probably the cheesiest piece of disaster movie ever made. If not, it has to darn close. I'm not sure it was intended to be this funny, but the way some of the lines and how some people met their end was hilarious. Does that make this movie watchable? Certainly not!! When you look past the few laughs, this movie was bad...really bad, and I can't in good conscience recommend this to anyone. Stay away. Fun Fact: The 18-year-old daughter of the "hero" were played by a 27-year-old woman.
