This version of the Jack London classic is just bad compared namely to the 1941 movie or the 1971 German TV mini-series. While the acting of Reeve is up to par, most of the rest of the movie is not. For a start, it is just intriguing that namely Reeve and Steward have, even after weeks at sea, always perfect hair styling… go figure. Then there are the other main actors. For one, the doctor is completely unconvincing as an alcoholic loser who has reached rock bottom in his life. The guy seems ore like a gentleman in a gentleman’s club or on a golf course. And then there is Bronson as Wolf Larsen. Unfortunately, while Bronson is great as the few-words.vigilante, this role is just two grades above his acting abilities. As that is the main character, this fact alone just spoils the whole movie. Watch other versions of the classic story. Most of them are better.
