The film focuses on a dystopian love story, leaving a poorly developed universe. It makes good use of silences and the soundtrack, has good dialogues and reflections on the plot. The worst thing about the movie is to think that something like that can be perfectly real, even more crazy. Although it may be a recommendation if you are looking for a dystopian love story, I don't think it is a movie for everyone.
I'm sure there's a great idea in there, but 'Code 46' is a mostly forgettable 93 minutes. I did like the mixing of cultures to portray the dystopian future though, that was fairly cool. I think leaning into that side of the plot more might have been interesting. The performances of Tim Robbins and Samantha Morton - two actors I like - are solid, but what they appear in fails to deliver past a noteworthy concept. The tale is weird, especially in regards to William's decisions and how the family side of it is overlooked.
Dull and not worth watching (a dream-like quality and themes of interest but without legs or consequence other than the question of holding onto memories no longer shared by others, which is a part of getting old anyway) had it not been for the two outstanding leads (I love Samantha Morton - she just has a terrific presence) and supporting cast.
A controlled future, with little coverage and strict birth control
