>"Your tongue is like an accusatory giblet!" So this is the movie that brought Depp and Heard together huh? Bet he regrets that. While this movie tells an interesting story, at the end I felt like I watched a story somewhat about nothing, that takes place in Puerto Rico and people love to drink. If it had ended on a strong note, it would be a pretty good movie.
I've had hoped for more.
Totally awesome. Perfect combination of comedy, drama and a bit of adventure.
A solid movie with a great performance by Depp. While not quite as deep as it could have been, it is still a good story with excellent characters. A must for fans of the man.
Always been a fan of Hunter S. Thompson, and I really like this book, but I am forgetting it before I watch this, as this surface level compared to the book. So putting the book aside, I love this as a prequel to the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas movie, as it similarly focuses on the ride versus the journey. This was a fun, intoxication fueled, somewhat thought-provoking tale, that doesn't ignore the destruction America did to Puerto Rico as we "made it better?"... One quote stands out to me, it took place around the JFK/Nixon election, as Depp is talking about Nixon and living a life of lies, he says >the only eventuality worse than him, is that you know one day some filthy whore beast is going to show up and make him look like a liberal then shortly follows it up with Nixon can't win, the "Irish one" will, and then adds that "but they won't let him live" in reference to JFK... But it is so fucking sad how true it is, and how much worse it has gotten...
