I like the concept - I just wish there was more. Movies like this always seem to end and leave it to the imagination but I would love to see what actually happened after that final scene. ETA: I learned this year that this is also a book. My daughter had to read it for school and so I read some of it and we discussed after each chapter. I thought the movie represents the book pretty well but I can see where there are differences. We watched it again after she finished the book and we both think it's a pretty good movie.
A welcome antidote to the flux of YA dystopian tales, this is a good film marred only by a sudden ending. The novel on which the film is based, was written before the likes of Divergent and Hunger Games and so the film can be forgiven of its similarities. This is concerned less with sci-fi action, however. Its focus is hope and a future after society has been neutralised thanks to decades of war and inhumanity. Worth watching and its message is worth considering.
This movie hit me in the feels. It almost made me feel as if I was seeing colors and hearing music for the first time. FANTASTIC
The book made me cry and the movie only added a few cool details… that’s literally it
No feelings were evoked until the end, and even when they were, it was no thanks to the characters what so ever. Everything just felt way too fast, yet somehow dragged on in a very predictable, lacklustre manner. There really was no depth put into any aspect of this film, when the plot was SO PROMISING! IT COULD'VE BEEN SO MUCH MORE?! I felt that nothing really happened, and nothing really connected...the entire film felt so void, the message (which is supposed to be so powerful!) barely felt present...
